Teaching at Jahangirnagar University

I live on teaching - as an anthropology professor.

I am a professor of (social) anthropology in Bangladesh and have taught in many programs (on invitation). But I cannot really claim expertise on/in 'anthropology', or in any discipline/practice for that matter. 'Expertise' is something I find very difficult and scary, with a rigid job description (that includes keeping on telling about the expertise itself as well) and very little liberty. Same thing happens with 'research' too. So actually I roam around a few issues without being an expert or a 'defined' researcher. However, defining myself a 'researcher' doesn't help my cause either. It should always be the 'others', mostly big agencies and grant making authorities, to define (or call) you a researcher. So actually I used to roam around issues, say a few words or write a few words without being much bothered about the status-quo in publication cartography. And I used to write in Bangla only, until very recently. Now I started writing a few words in English too, and of course still hold the position in anthropology.
